Knob: The knob caps the top of the plunger rod so you have something to grip and press down on. Plunger rod: The rod runs from the knob down through the lid to carry the filter assembly into the beaker. Lid: The lid sits on the rim of the beaker and guides the rod straight down through its centre hole. Spiral plate: The spiral plate is the top layer of the filter, and its coiled spring edge pushes the mesh against the beaker wall to seal it. Mesh filter screen: The fine mesh sits between the two plates so it is clamped flat and held firm while it traps the grounds. Cross plate: The cross plate is the bottom layer, and it screws onto the end of the rod to clamp the spiral plate and mesh together. Glass beaker: The beaker holds the coffee and water, and the whole plunger assembly drops down into it. Frame with handle: The frame sits at the bottom because the beaker is lowered into it, where it holds the glass and gives you a handle and feet.
